The Modern Muslimah Forum and Other Things

(Peace be upon you and the mercy and blessings of God)
Sorry for not writing in what seems like an eternity. I’ve been very busy with getting adjusted to my new home, my new school (Case!) and my new forum. I have a new forum now called the Modern Muslimah Forum which is dedicated to addressing issues that Muslimahs face. It’s meant to address our political and economic rights and needs as well the spiritual and domestic ones. I created the site because I felt that there weren’t any sites that were dedicated exclusively to Muslimahs that talked about our political and economic rights or how to improve them. Most sites that focus on Muslim women discuss how to be a good wife (ad nauseum), fatwas on women (ad nauseum), how to maintain your good appearance for your hubby, and our favorite, HIJAB. Don’t think that I’m saying that we shouldn’t address these issues occasionally. However, I don’t think they should be the bulk of material written for Muslim women. These issues seem to be curiously male oriented, despite supposedly being written for a female audience.
I mean you never see Muslim women sites that discuss brothers who mistreat their wives and what to do if you’re one of these women, masajid that have no facilities for women or incredibly poor and shabby facilities for women, whether women can hold leadership positions in their masajid or Islamicorganizations. It’s as if Muslim women should not think about these issues. Well, it seems that many Muslimah oriented sites seem to think that.
So I started forum as a place to discuss issues that I didn’t think were being addressed at other sites for Muslim women. Insha’Allah, the site will succeed in its aim. Right now, it’s pretty small but it’s steadily growing, Alhamduillah!
As far as the rest of my life is concerned, it is going well. Today is actually our eight month anniversary. It’s hard to believe that it’s almost been a year with habibi. I love him so much. He’s an incredible man and the most wonderful husband I can ask for. He’s so supportive of my goals and dreams. He’s all that I can ask for.
School is also going well. The spring semester has started. I am taking four classes this semester. I think I will be ok. However, I’m not so sure about Stat. Unfortunately, I have to take it for my Math requirement. Last semester, I got a 3.67 GPA
. I’m very happy about that.
So that’s my little life in a nutshell.
Until next time,

(Peace be upon you and the mercy and blessings of God)
